Hurricane Simon has veered from its predicted path and now threatens to impact Los Cabos and elsewhere in Baja California Sur, with Tropical Storm Trudy rapidly intensifying behind Simon.
Hurricane Simon, as of Wednesday morning, boasted sustained winds of 90 mph and was located 250 miles south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas at Baja California’s tip.

Warnings previously associated with Simon have been removed. But with Simon having moved away from the mainland on a path to skirt Baja California’s west coast, the U.S.-based National Hurricane Center stated:
"Interests in west-central Mexico and in Baja California Sur should continue to monitor Simon. Watches or warnings may be required for portions of Baja California Sur over the next day or two."
Simon is expected to remain at hurricane strength until early Saturday and could make landfall as a tropical storm near Magdalena Bay on Sunday. Simon is not expected to register a direct hit on Los Cabos.
Tropical Storm Trudy, off southern Mexico, is expected to become a hurricane early Thursday and a major hurricane (Category 3 or stronger) by Friday.
