Sunday night marked the return to regular-season action for the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. This also marked the return of Giants running back Cam Skattebo from the injury that cut his rookie season short, and the 24-year-old made sure his first game back came with a bang.
Skattebo finished with 81 rushing yards on 18 attempts and started the scoring off on Sunday night with a three-yard touchdown run. Not surprisingly, his first touchdown, at home, in prime-time, was followed by his vintage backflip celebration—one he took some heat for during the offseason.
Skattebo botched a backflip attempt slightly during the offseason at Fanatics Fest while recovering from his leg injury, much to the dismay of many Giants fans. This time, though,
Skattebo landed it perfectly, and after the game, he made it clear that the backflip was always coming when he reached the end zone. However, Skattebo also had some bad news for fans who love the celly, as it might be shelved for the rest of the year.
"No doubt. I was telling a bunch of people before the game that the first touchdown of the year was going to be a backflip," Skattebo said after the game. "I'll probably stay away from it the rest of the year, but I had to give it to the city one time."

For what it's worth, it wouldn't have felt right if Skattebo didn't hit the backflip on his first score, and that's even coming from a Cowboys fan. One thing that's for sure is that Skattebo didn't skip a beat in his return from injury, and his power-running style is still just as strong as ever.
