It was a scary moment just two plays into the Green Bay Packers showdown with the New York Jets. Jordan Love fired a swing pass to his left, connecting with veteran receiver Jayden Reed. Reed turned upfield and absorbed a hit from linebacker Demario Davis.
Reed lost control of the ball after he hit the turf. Then, he didn't get up. Medical staff rushed onto the field. After a few moments, it became clear this wasn't a simple injury Reed could jog off.
Players from both teams took to the field and took a knee around their fallen comrade. The injury cart rolled out onto the field. The receiver was strapped onto a backboard and driven to the bowels of MetLife Stadium, where a trip to a local hospital likely awaits.
Will Jayden Reed return in Week 2?
Almost certainly not. Reed looks
likely to miss multiple weeks with a possible neck or head injury. He is officially out for Week 2.
Which other Packer suffered an injury on Green Bay's opening drive?
Zack Bako-Bewele, the team's starting right tackle, was carted off the field the very next play. He is officially out with a knee injury.
