The reported drama between ESPN's Joe Buck and Troy Aikman continues to spill out, with details about their conflict continuing to be revealed.
After an alleged pregame argument before they called a Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams game, fans reading into tension this past Monday and Aikman's recent interview, there are new reports of more heated stuff. All that is apparently happening behind the scenes as the duo have to get on the air every Monday to call games... and then there's the looming ESPN Super Bowl that they'll be in the booth for.
Puck reported that the fact that Buck got a new contract from ESPN and Aikman didn't is an issue:
“There had been weeks of Troy becoming increasingly cold, difficult, short, making comments,” a source with
direct knowledge of the dynamics between the two men told me. At SoFi Stadium, “Joe finally snapped,” the source continued. “He basically said, Dude, are we really going to do this? And Troy’s position was: You [expletive] me over!” (“They exchanged some very direct and honest feelings,” another source said.)
As part of that report, Buck apparently spoke to the Monday Night Football production team (with Aikman too) and apologized for what happened before Bills-Rams.
What's next here? We'll see if this is the end of the conflict until the end of a huge NFL season for ESPN.
