Tony Romo's OWI arrest from a couple of weeks ago has left many wondering abut his future at CBS. Short-term, as he's stepped away, we know who will replace him in the lead NFL booth at the network with Jim Nantz.
But long-term? J.J. Watt might be one answer as an in-house replacement for Romo. And then there's this potential scenario floated by John Ourand in the Varsity newsletter: Watt is one name, and the other is Greg Olsen, a broadcasting superstar who has many fans out there who love him on the air. You'll recall Olsen was demoted when Tom Brady took over Fox's No. 1 job.
How much is Tony Romo's contract at CBS?
This is where it gets dicey. Romo is owed a reported $72 million in the next four years. So as Pro Football Talk noted there's a possibility CBS could end that contract
after the OWI arrest, or the two sides could agree to a buyout.
How much is Greg Olsen's contract at Fox?
Reports said that he got a five-year contract worth $10 million when he was in the top Fox spot, but then $3 million as the No. 2 name. So he's still in the middle of that deal.
Did Tony Romo get fired?
No. He's still under contract with CBS. All of this is speculation about what CBS could do next with Romo.
