In response to injuries to both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, the Baltimore Ravens made a bold move to trade for veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett
as a solid, experienced placeholder on Wednesday. The good news is that Brissett might be able to give the Ravens enough of a chance to stay afloat in the playoff picture while Jackson recovers from thumb surgery. The bad news is that Brissett won't be able to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a primetime matchup on Thursday night. Why? With such a short turnaround from the trade to Thursday night's game, there isn't enough time for the Ravens to finalize the Brissett deal with the Arizona Cardinals that would allow him to play. Considering the general logistics of conducting a physical
and sending in formal paperwork, on top of Brissett also needing some time to learn basic plays from the Ravens' playbook, that makes a lot of sense.
It's a bummer for the Ravens and Brissett, to be sure, but it makes sense.
The trade will not be finalized in time for Jacoby Brissett to play Thursday night vs. Jacksonville. But once it is, he will be expected to make his debut in Week 10 on Monday Night Football versus the Chargers. https://t.co/CjsR6b7RRn

With both Jackson and Huntley out for a little while, expect Brissett to be the Ravens' starting quarterback when they play the Los Angeles Chargers at home in Week 10. For now, Joe Fagnano will hold down the fort against the Jaguars.
