The New York Jets came into Week 3 shorthanded. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell led the team with 12 targets in last Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers. A finger injury kept him from the field, taking away another potential playmaker from an offense in need of game-changing talent.
In the third quarter of their showdown with the Detroit Lions, things got even worse. Leading rusher Breece Hall was twisted down along the sideline as he charged toward the end zone in a 24-10 game, landing hard on his right hip. While linebacker Trevor Nowaske's hit didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary, it was enough to leave the dynamic tailback on the turf.
Breece Hall - Hard to tell what exactly is injured. Awkwardly tackled and twisted. Not seeing anything
that significantly stands out. Heβs in the medical tent now. pic.twitter.com/gWlo0JLbCJ

He walked to the injury tent after returning to the sideline. He will not return after being ruled out by the Jets. The official cause is a thigh injury.

Who will get the Jets' carries if Breece Hall can't play
The Jets have a pair of young running backs behind their star. Braelon Allen had just one carry for four yards before Hall's injury, but he ran in a touchdown last week against his home state Packers. Fellow 2024 draft pick Isaiah Davis, who only has one carry (for 14 yards) this fall, is also active.
