Matthew Golden is having the second-year breakout Green Bay Packers fans have been dreaming about. The former Texas wide receiver has been a superb downfield threat for Jordan Love, who ranks third among NFL starters in average depth of target.
Over his first seven games, Golden has 34 catches for 512 yards and three touchdowns. He and Christian Watson have kept the Green Bay offense afloat despite run game struggles with their speed and ability to make tough catches in traffic.
Golden is a bit banged up heading into Thursday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers, however. The 23-year-old is questionable with shoulder and foot injuries. Here's what we know about his status.
Is Matthew Golden playing tonight?
Golden is expected to play, Packers coach Matt LaFleur said, despite
missing practice Monday and Tuesday before logging a limited session Wednesday.
Is Matthew Golden a start or sit in Week 8?
It's possible Golden could be used as a decoy because of his injuries, which would not be ideal for fantasy football managers. However, the upside with Golden is far too high to let him sit on your bench. Start Golden with confidence tonight.
