Why might Greg Olsen want to make the leap from Fox Sports to ESPN for Monday Night Football to possibly replace Troy Aikman next season?
Well, the former NFL tight end-turned-elite commentator interviewed for this exact job in the past.
As Front Office Sports' Ryan Glasspiegel pointed out on Thursday, Olsen interviewed for the play-by-play job in 2018 to replace Jon Gruden in the booth while he was still playing in the NFL.
5 possible Troy Aikman 'Monday Night Football' replacements (Sean McVay?!)
Olsen returned to the Carolina Panthers instead, but that interview might hint Olsen would be interested in the job coming open again.
As Olsen is a broadcasting free agent after the 2026-27 season, Aikman leaving his role with the network could pave the way
for Olsen to take his place and solidify his spot on one of the NFL's top weekly broadcast teams.
All things considered Greg Olsen would be the safest bet for ESPN IMO. Already called a Super Bowl and did great.

Also remember, he had serious talks to replace Jon Gruden on MNF in 2018 before returning to Panthers https://t.co/IzkyCVmWtI https://t.co/vS9edfv3NM
We'll see what happens with Aikman, but Olsen would be a seamless fit to replace him at ESPN.
Where else could Olsen go?
He could also land at CBS as Tony Romo's replacement or even at Amazon to replace Kirk Herbstreit on Thursday Night Football.
