Alec Pierce -- the Indianapolis Colts wideout who had a big year and earned a sizeable contract after that -- will be heading to the IR with his return up in the air for now thanks to his heel injury that popped up again on Sunday.
What does this mean in fantasy football? Sure, it's good news if you have tight end Tyler Warren, but let's focus on the other receiver who could get a huge boost: Josh Downs. There was some offseason buzz about Downs getting more work, but Keenan Allen signing was a problem.
But here we are, with Pierce out and Allen potentially facing a suspension after a DUI arrest. Downs -- who ended up with seven receptions on nine targets for 72 yards -- could end up being a target machine. If you're in a PPR league, that's huge
news. He may not find the end zone that often (he had just four scores last year after five in 2024) but I'm expecting a lot of volume and maybe that leads to a slight uptick in TDs.
The upside is there for him to be a WR2-type the rest of the year.
