The Cincinnati Bengals have some injury issues at wide receiver heading into Week 5. Ja'Marr Chase was ruled out of the loss to the Jaguars with a concussion. Tee Higgins is day-to-day with an adductor injury.
All of this means that the Bengals could be without their two top wideouts in Week 5 ahead of their Sunday matchup against the Miami Dolphins. And that has put a fantasy football focus on the next name on the depth chart: That would be Dohnte Meyers, an undrafted rookie receiver who ended up with seven catches for 82 yards on Sunday.
So should you pick him up on fantasy football waivers this week? The answer -- if you have Chase or Higgins or just need a receiver to put into your lineup with bye weeks beginning -- is yes.
There is a little
bit of concern here, as it's only Tuesday and we'll get more clarity on Chase and Higgins. But you do have to assume that they'll miss this week's game. Speaking of which: The Dolphins continue to struggle, so there is some concern that the Bengals might be run-heavy this week and Meyers wouldn't be a huge factor. Plus, tight end Mike Gesicki could see a bunch of work from Joe Burrow.
Let's give you an answer:
Should you pick Dohnte Meyers off the waiver wire for Week 5?
I'll say yes. Even with game script questions and the presence of Gesicki, you could end up with a player who does enough to put up WR3 numbers at a minimum for one week. That could win you a game in fantasy.
