Chicago Sky forward DiJonai Carrington was ejected from a WNBA game Saturday, Aug. 8, after a hard foul on Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham. Not long after, Carrington posted two words to her Threads account: "WHITE PRIVILEGE @Indianafever."
Carrington's foul caused tension among players and after review, officials upgraded it to a flagrant foul penalty 2, which requires a player exit the game due to unnecessary and excessive contact, according to the WNBA rulebook.
Cunningham immediately had words for Carrington and was held back by a teammate.

Carrington got off to a strong start in Saturday's home game against the Fever, scoring eight points in three minutes before the Cunningham foul ended her afternoon with 1:59 left in the first quarter.
The WNBA has faced intense social and political commentary on issues involving race, player safety and transgender athletes. That climate has intensified after incidents involving the Fever, in particular, such as the Alyssa Thomas foul on Caitlin Clark in June and Cunningham's recent comments on transgender athletes participating in women's athletics, which inspired demonstrations outside of Fever games.
