When Kyler Murray took a scary hit from the Green Bay Packers' Javon Bullard on Sunday, everyone associated with the Minnesota Vikings held their breath. With Murray presumably entering concussion protocol for the near future, the Vikings remain unhappy about the hit to their quarterback as they prepare for life with Carson Wentz for a little while.
That's the latest from ESPN's Adam Schefter, who noted that the Vikings were upset there wasn't any sort of punishment for Bullard mid-game after his hit on Murray. For what it's worth, Bullard was flagged for unnecessary roughness. The NFL will apparently dig further into the incident, but it's unlikely anything will come of it beyond a fine.
The real kicker here is that Murray, per Schefter, will
likely miss the Vikings' Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears, as most players who enter the NFL's concussion protocol usually miss at least the following game.

He also reports that the Vikings are/were "not pleased" by the hit that knocked Kyler Murray out vs the Packers

For their part, the Vikings and head coach Kevin O'Connell claim that Murray has a "day-to-day" status. But that's probably basic hedging and trying not to cede too much information in game planning, more than anything else.

Also, RB Jordan Mason is having a sore thumb evaluated, per O'Connell.
The good news for the Vikings here is that they were still able to notch a key NFC North division win over the Packers despite Murray's injury. And even though it's not ideal that they'll probably have to start Wentz against the Bears and their high-flying offense, Chicago's woeful defense might give him some good opportunities to make plays.
We'll see how the week progresses for Murray and the Vikings as they try to adapt from their initial plans for the 2026 season.
