Two games into their season, the Green Bay Packers have had a glaring absence in their offensive lineup.
Amid allegations of domestic violence from the offseason, usual starting running back Josh Jacobs is currently sitting on the NFL's Commissioner Exempt list as he goes through legal proceedings. At the time of this writing, Jacobs has not been formally suspended and is still receiving his paychecks (which would not be the case with a suspension), but he cannot be around the Packers in any capacity indefinitely.
Needless to say, you will still not see Jacobs playing for the Packers on Thursday night as they take on Michael Penix Jr.'s Atlanta Falcons.
Here's the latest update on his court battle, with the judge presiding over his case denying
a request to seal records, which reportedly includes a surveillance video of the alleged incident involving Jacobs and the victim in his garage. All this means is that the ball is now in the court of the Hobart-Lawrence police department as to whether it will decide to release said evidence to the public. Not sealing the records will also apparently give the NFL a chance to review the video, too.

"However, it does not mean the records, which includes surveillance video outlined in the criminal report that states a portion of the incident was caught on camera, will be immediately released. Instead, the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department will handle any new requests made under public records laws ...
If the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department decides to release the evidence, the victim or Jacobs will be entitled to appeal before anything is released.
A permanent sealing of evidence could have prevented the NFL from reviewing the video from the May 23 incident at Jacobs' home in Green Bay."
Jacobs has already been convicted of battery, assessed a $1,000 fine, and was ordered to have no contact with the victim, pay restitution, attend counseling, and be under supervision for one year. He entered a no-contest plea on September 10th, 2026.
