Did Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham just play her last game with the franchise?
After the Fever's Game 3 road loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night in the first round of the 2026 WNBA playoffs, the future will come into focus for Indiana.
Superstar guard Kelsey Mitchell will be the team's most prominent free agent, but Cunningham is second. The Fever veteran played extremely well in the first half of the season, earning buzz as a Sixth Player of the Year contender.
However, her 3-point shooting cooled after the All-Star break. Cunningham could possibly return to the Fever on a new deal, but it's also possible Indiana allows her to walk as it retools its bench for the 2027 season.
Cunningham's future with the Fever is uncertain. The
2027 offseason will hold the ultimate answer.
When is 2027 WNBA free agency?
There's no set date yet, but late January/early February is a good estimation.
