As the biggest favorites of Week 1, the Los Angeles Chargers were naturally a popular pick in survivor pools for the NFL's opening week. But after hitting a new low with their loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Chargers are now the reason a large swath of those people will be one and done.
In one of the most popular survivor contests, Circa Survivor, which had more than 25,000 entries, 30.3 percent of the remaining entries had the Chargers as their Week 1 pick. The contest, which will pay out more than $25 million at the end the season, had 7,585 people eliminated by LA's upset loss.
The stunning Cardinals win also eliminated 28 of the 77 entries (36.4 percent) in Circa's Grandissimo survivor contest, which cost $100,000 to enter and will pay
out $7.6 million.

Contest season is officially BACK!
Had those people read my weekly survivor picks, they would've rolled with the Jaguars or Raiders and still been alive. But we can't all be winners. Considering the Chargers were 9.5-point favorites in the game, the percentage of people who took them was likely similar across other contests.
