As the world mourned the death of icon Dolly Parton, there were those who wanted to know what happened to her, especially with her struggling with health problems in recent months.
What we do know, per her representatives to The Tennessean, is that she had been diagnosed with cancer before she had died. That wasn't public knowledge before her death on Monday.
"The country music icon died at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville after being hospitalized there on Aug. 21," reported The Tennessean's Bryan West. "Parton's representatives described her illness as a brief battle with cancer but did not disclose what type she had."
What were Dolly Parton's health issues earlier in the year?
She missed an August Dollywood appearance and there was this in May via USA TODAY:
In May, the "9 to 5" singer canceled
a series of Las Vegas concerts and revealed that she had been suffering from multiple medical issues in recent years, including kidney stones. The announcement came seven months after she had postponed the shows, leading her sister, Freida Parton, to draw concern after asking for prayers for the singer.
