MLB umpire Doug Eddings gave St. Louis Cardinals rookie Hancel Rincon a hard time about his tilted cap Friday, forcing the pitcher to adjust it in the middle of his big league debut against the Colorado Rockies. On Saturday, players in both the Cards and Rockies dugouts made sure Eddings knew how ridiculous he was being by joining Rincon in styling their caps to the side.
According to the television broadcast, Eddings told pool reporters Friday he was first alerted to Rincon's cap by Rockies all-star Hunter Goodman. Goodman denied that was true.
The players' silent protest came a day after Cardinals skipper Oli Marmol was ejected for chewing out Eddings in a NSFW rant over the hat situation, appearing to tell Eddings to "grow up."
