Nebraska football quarterback Anthony Colandrea shared the mindset of the team and coach Matt Rhule during halftime of Saturday’s 49-21 win over Ohio. The quarterback met with the media following the game and gave an inside look into how the team felt.
The quarterback had himself quite the day. All told, he went 18-of-32 through the air, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns. The playmaker also made an impact on the ground, recording 10 carries for 23 yards. He did his part, as the Huskers were able to pull away in the second half.
However, the game was tight at halftime, as the Huskers held a 14-13 advantage. The message in the locker room was clear at halftime.
“I think it was good for us to get punched in the face [& have adversity]. Then,
coming out the half, I think Coach Rhule just said, like play our ball. At the end of the day, we did 21 days of fall camp, like we played together. Just go out there and go play football.”
Whatever was said in the halftime locker room worked. The Huskers would go on to outscore the Bobcats 35-8 in the second half, and the team looked more comfortable as the game wore on. Hopefully, they can continue these solid habits next week, when they take on Bowling Green.
