The US LBM Coaches Poll released its rankings following Week 1 of the college football season. Nebraska received multiple votes but remains outside the top 25.
The Huskers received 11 votes, one fewer than in the preseason rankings. They were one of three teams to receive 11 votes. Virginia Tech and Arizona State also earned 11 votes in the week two poll. Illinois, Minnesota and UCLA are other Big Ten teams that received votes.
Nebraska continued to receive votes after its unbalanced win over Ohio in its season opener. Despite trailing early and entering halftime up just 14-13, the Huskers outscored the Bobcats 35-8 in the second half. Nebraska's clash with Ohio was one of many Big Ten/MAC battles over the weekend that were closer than expected.
Ohio State remains No. 1 in the rankings. Indiana moved up to No. 5, and Oregon dropped to No. 6. USC stayed at No. 14, while Penn State moved up to No. 16. Washington stayed at No. 19, Iowa is now No. 21, and Michigan fell to No. 24 after its controversial Hail Mary win over Western Michigan.
