Who will Oregon start at quarterback this Saturday? The Huskers head west to play in Eugene, but the Ducks still haven't announced their starting quarterback for the weekend.
Nebraska fans believed former Husker quarterback Dylan Raiola would start after Dante Moore's injury. But Raiola struggled in a 17-15 loss to UCLA last weekend and was replaced late in the game by Brock Thomas.
Raiola finished the game 6 of 19 passing for 43 yards and two interceptions. Oregon coach Dan Lanning discussed the open competition for the starting quarterback job.
"We've really got a competition in a lot of positions. Obviously, at the quarterback position, if Dante's not able to go. There's competition every single week because I always say football is like renting
a house; it's not owning a house. You have to pay rent every week. We didn't do well enough in some areas. We have to really do hard evaluations and say, 'OK, how can we make sure that we're much better?'"
Raiola played for Nebraska during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He joined Nebraska as the top 2024 quarterback recruit in the country, passing for nearly 8,500 career yards with 88 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions in his high school career.
In 22 career games at Nebraska, he threw for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while completing 69.1% of his passes. The 2025 season was cut short after suffering an injury in a loss against USC. He threw for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.
"Of course, it's going to be an emotional game for Dylan. Being the place that he came from, he's going to do everything he can to make sure that our team's in the best situation to have success this week and be prepared and play as well as we possibly can. I know he'll do that because he's a pro."
Nebraska returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Oregon. Kickoff time is scheduled for 10 p.m. CT on Fox.
