Former Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson had a strong season opener when the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Denver Broncos on Monday night. The rookie put on a show and introduced the country to what Nebraska fans saw for years.
Johnson recorded 10 carries for 68 yards in his season debut, plus two catches for 44 yards. It was a solid night for the Chiefs' rushing attack overall, as Kenneth Walker II helped pace the running game. Johnson took full advantage of his role as the second running back on the Chiefs roster and made a strong impression.
This continues a strong calendar year for Johnson. He recorded 251 carries for 1,051 yards and 12 touchdowns in his final season with the program.
Johnson provided Husker fans with plenty of exciting
moments and dependability. Chiefs fans now get to experience that too, as Johnson is proving to be a solid addition to an already potent offense.
