The Maryland Terrapins fired head coach Mike Locksley after a 2-5 start to the season. The program hired Locksley in 2019.
He served in several roles with the Terrapins, including offensive coordinator from 2012 to 2015. Locksley was the interim head coach for the final six games of the 2015 season following the firing of Randy Edsall.
He joined the Alabama Crimson Tide staff from 2016 to 2018 as an offensive analyst and co-offensive coordinator, and he assumed the full offensive coordinator role in 2018. Locksley won the Broyles Award in 2018 and was then named head coach at Maryland in 2019.
He compiled a 39-54 record with the Terrapins. Nebraska hosted Maryland at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 3 for the 2026 homecoming game. The Huskers won 48-23
over the Terrapins.
This has been a Big Ten season full of twists and turns, and firing Locksley certainly adds to it.
Former Maryland HC Mike Locksley said he doesn't expect to have an opportunity to be a head coach in college again, but is looking to revive his career in the NFL or as a college coordinator.
