Nebraska's Andrew Marshall earned a spot on an award watch list on Wednesday. Marshall was added to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list.
The Chuck Bednarik Award is presented to the outstanding defensive player in college football. Marshall's addition to the watchlist adds to his mid-season honors. He was named a first-team midseason All-American by both On3 and Sports Illustrated for his performance through the first seven games.
Through seven games, the senior earned seven starts and recorded 21 tackles, four pass breakups and an interception. Marshall has also allowed just eight catches on 27 targets through the first seven games, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). The Eastvale, California, native has started all 20 games since transferring
to Nebraska.
Last year, Marshall earned an honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection after totaling 45 tackles, four tackles for loss, four pass breakups and an interception. In his career, he's recorded 138 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 16 pass breakups and two interceptions.
ESPN will announce the winner during its Home Depot College Football Awards in December.
