Erick Smith of USA Today released his reshuffled college football playoff and bowl projections after week three of play. Though many teams have shifted in the projections, Nebraska has remained in the same spot since the preseason: a date with North Carolina State in the Pinstripe Bowl.
The Huskers stand at 3-0 following their non-conference slate, which included wins over Ohio, Bowling Green and North Dakota. In those three games, Nebraska's outscored its opponents 139-35. Now, the Huskers enter conference play, looking to earn their third straight bowl-game appearance.
North Carolina State is 1-2 following a rough start to the season. The Wolfpack opened up the year with a 34-8 struggle against Virginia. Then, following a 73-0 win against Richmond,
North Carolina State suffered a 35-31 collapse at Vanderbilt. The Wolfpack held a 24-7 lead partway through the third, before the Commodores stormed back.
The fourth quarter especially fell apart for North Carolina State. The Wolfpack allowed three touchdowns, the last a strip-sacked fumble in their own end zone at the end of the game, after securing a seemingly game-winning interception. Now, North Carolina State is about to wrap up non-conference action this week against Appalachian State before entering ACC play.
