Nebraska football punter Archie Wilson was named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week on Tuesday. The school officially announced it on social media.
Wilson averaged 49.8 yards per punt against Washington on Saturday. He punted five times for 249 yards. He pinned Washington inside the 20 four times. His play helped Nebraska pin the Washington offense deep. Ultimately, they lost 17-10. Even so, Wilson’s contributions mattered.
Wilson has been an important piece for the program so far this season. In particular, his punts inside the 20 against the Indiana Hoosiers leveled the playing field for an underdog Huskers team.
It will certainly be interesting to see how he performs the rest of the way. The Huskers are in a bit of a slide at the moment, as
I have lost the last three games. His play and ability to pin opponents deep could come in handy as the schedule gets tougher.
