Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren has the NFL’s best catch rate among qualifying tight ends, but his low yards per reception points to an area of opportunity for the Shane Steichen offense.
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Warren has hauled in 23 of 27 targets, an 85.2% catch rate, while emerging as one of Daniel Jones’ most trustworthy options.
The efficiency comes with a catch, though. Warren has only 130 receiving yards, putting him at 5.6 yards per reception. That's about half of the 10.8 yards per catch he averaged as a rookie in 2025.
The issue appears to be where Indianapolis is getting Warren the football. PFF has Warren’s average depth of target at just 2.3 yards through Week 4. He's also averaging 4.6 yards after the catch per
reception.
That usage has turned Warren into a high-percentage underneath target rather than consistently testing defenses in the intermediate area.
Warren caught five passes for 41 yards in Sunday’s 30-13 win over the Washington Commanders, his best yards-per-catch mark of the season at 8.2.
The Colts are, at least, getting Warren the ball. But finding more chances for him farther away from the line of scrimmage could unlock a much bigger part of his game.
