Up next for theIndianapolis Coltsis a Week 4 matchup with the Washington Commanders. Both teams are coming off their first wins of the season and will be looking to build upon that momentum.
For a closer look at the Colts' upcoming opponent, here are three things to know about the Commanders, along with a prediction.
Marcus Mariota will start at QB for the Commanders
Jayden Daniels has been ruled out of Sunday's game with an elbow injury that he suffered in Week 2 against Dallas. That means that Mariota will make his second consecutive start.
Mariota helped lead the Commanders to victory last week over the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. In that contest, Mariota completed 19-of-31 passes for 183 yards with three passing touchdowns.
The former second overall pick has made83 starts
over his 12 NFL seasons.
The Commanders will blitz a lot
Commanders' defensive coordinator Daronte Jones was previously in Minnesota under Brian Flores, who deploys a wide variety of looks and blitzes. Through three games, Washington blitzes at the fourth-highest rate and has the fifth-highest pressure rate in football.
The Colts will need to be prepared for not just designed pressures, but multiple defenders coming at any time and from all parts of the field.
A dynamic wide receiver duo
The Colts' secondary has surrendered its share of big plays this season, and up next is a difficult test against the Commanders' Stefon Diggs and Terry McLaurin. The duo has caught 23 passes for 276 yards with four touchdowns through three games.
Diggs and McLaurin account for 44 of the Commanders' 92 total passing game targets this season, so expect a heavy dose of these two on Sunday.
