Indianapolis Coltswide receiver Darius Slayton did not suit up for the second consecutive game on Sunday against the Commanders.
As a recent addition, it's understandable that Slayton didn't play last week against Houston, just days after arriving in Indianapolis. He is tasked with learning a brand new offense on the fly.
However, it was more surprising that he did not play against the Commanders either and was a healthy scratch, especially given that the Colts were short-handed at the receiver position.
After the win, head coach Shane Steichen explained why Slayton is still out.
"Darius is still just learning the offense," Steichen said, via Colts.com, "getting into it, he's only been here for two weeks. We'll see how next week goes."
Slayton signed
with the Colts in Week 3, following the news that Alec Pierce would go on IR.
Within the Colts' offense, he has the ability to provide a much-needed vertical presence. Without Pierce, Indianapolis has struggled to stretch the field.
Slayton's availability -- even if it's not for an entire game -- could prove to be quite beneficial for this offense.
