Roster cutdown day is Sunday for the Indianapolis Colts and the rest of the NFL. The next day, teams will be able to submit waiver claims on recently released players.
If GM Chris Ballard is going to attempt to further bolster this Colts' roster before Week 1, there are three positions in particular that could potentially use an addition.
Cornerback
The Colts' starting cornerback trio should be quite good. However, the depth of this position group has been exposed throughout the preseason. Johnathan Edwards and Rob Carter Jr. have struggled in the preseason, while Jaylon Jones continues to work with the reserves. The team also just waived Mekhi Blackmon.
Defensive tackle
It's possible that neither Jerry Tillery nor Derrick Nnadi makes the Colts' final roster. In that instance,
the Colts may only carry four defensive tackles on the 53-man. Not to say they can't go into Week 1 doing that, but doing so leaves Indianapolis thin at a heavily rotated position.
Offensive line
Like cornerback, the depth of this unit is very much in question. Neither Dalton Tucker nor Jimmy Morrissey has provided a consistent presence at backup center. Luke Tenuta seems to be the only viable backup tackle option, while Jalen Farmer is working through a knee injury.
