Already with a 10-6 lead, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Jaylon Carlies intercepted a pass from Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis for the Colts’ first pick of the season.

In addition to being the first interception for Indianapolis this season, it was also the first takeaway by Indianapolis in this game after giving it away twice on offense. It was also Carlies’ first interception of his career.
The pick gave the Colts offense a short field to work with, and they took advantage with running back Jonathan Taylor’s second touchdown of the game, giving Indianapolis the 17-6
lead.
Both Colts' touchdowns today are a product of the defense. Along with Carlies' interception, a fourth-down stop in the first half set the Indianapolis offense up with good field position.
Washington then responded with a touchdown of their own to cut the lead to 17-13.
