The Indianapolis Colts came away with a much-needed win over the Houston Texans, avoiding the dreaded 0-3 start.
Now that the dust has settled on Sunday's game, let's highlight the studs and duds from the Colts' performance in Week 3.
Stud: K Spencer Shrader
Despite dealing with a groin injury, Shrader was excellent, making all four of his field goal attempts, which included hitting a 58-yarder and the game-winner late.
Dud: QB Daniel Jones
Jones faced steady pressure against a very good Houston defensive front, but regardless, you can't be responsible for three turnovers as the quarterback. The interception, which took place deep in Texans territory, took points off the board. The late fumble set the Texans up for the go-ahead score.
Stud: WR Josh Downs and Keenan Allen
The duo combined for 11 receptions for 140 yards with a touchdown.
Downs, in particular, was able to generate some chunk plays, averaging 15.4 yards per catch, while Allen was a reliable target for Jones. Both wideouts also found success attacking the middle of the field.
Dud: Colts' run game
It's not often the run game is in this category, but it was a rough outing for the running backs and the offensive line unit. The Colts finished with just 89 rushing yards on 31 carries, which averages out to just 2.9 yards per rush. Houston was also able to bottle up Jonathan Taylor, holding him to 3.0 yards per carry on 23 attempts.
Stud: Colts' defense
Who would have thought that this unit would be in the stud category after the first two games? CJ Stroud would pass for just 167 yards, while the Houston run game averaged only 3.3 yards per attempt. The Colts' defense also allowed the three turnovers by the Indianapolis offense to turn into only seven points for the Texans.
