What is the story about?

The expectation is that Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce will play in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens.

However, whether or not he sees a full workload on Sunday remains to be seen.

Following Friday's practice, head coach Shane Steichen was asked if Pierce would be on a pitch count.

"We'll see how the game goes," Steichen said, via Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan.

Pierce underwent offseason ankle surgery and spent most of training camp on the physically unable to perform list, rehabbing from the injury.

He returned to practice prior to the preseason finale with Detroit and has been on the field since then.

This week, he has practiced in a limited capacity the first two days. The Day 3 injury report hasn't been released at this time.

While Pierce brings a home run element to the Colts' offense, his role is expected to expand this season. In addition to that, even if the ball doesn't come his way, his presence garners quite a bit of attention, which can open up opportunities for other Colts' pass catchers.
