Indianapolis Colts linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither was fined for a play in last week's game against the Commanders.
In the fourth quarter, Davis-Gaither forced a pass breakup while defending running back Austin Ekeler. The fine he received from the NFL was for taunting.
During the actual game, Davis-Gaither was not flagged. The play was negated, however, because of a penalty elsewhere on Sauce Gardner, according to The Athletic's James Boyd.
Davis-Gaither was fined $11,941.

Per the NFL rules and operations site, players receive a letter from the league informing them of what they did, along with a video of the play, why they are being fined, and how much it will cost them.
"The NFL uses the fine schedule to outline the league’s and the union’s expectations for players to conduct themselves in a way that honors the sport and respects the game, themselves, their fellow players, the fans and the league. The rules are intended to protect the players from unnecessary risk, promote player safety and emphasize sportsmanship and respect of teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and fans."
Players can appeal the fines if they choose.
