With the NFL trade deadline less than a week away, Jonathan Taylor remains a member of the Indianapolis Colts, with the team still looking to land a draft-pick haul in return for the running back.
According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Colts are still in search of "a lot" when it comes to trading Taylor.
"The Colts are still asking for a lot for RB Jonathan Taylor and taking the stance that they don't need to move him," Graziano wrote.
From the jump, reports have suggested that the Colts are fine holding on to Taylor. As Graziano notes, he was just signed to an extension, is still 27 years old, and would be a key player during the rebuild.
Jeremy Fowler added that executives he has spoken to believe Taylor is worth a "second-round pick plus an additional
pick." However, the Colts, according to Adam Schefter, are looking for a Christian McCaffrey-like deal, when the Panthers acquired second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-round picks from San Francisco in 2022.
All that said, Graziano still believes the Colts will end up finding a trade partner for Taylor prior to the Nov. 10 deadline.
"I do get the sense, though, that enough teams are interested in Taylor that it's too soon for the Colts to think about lowering their demands," Graziano said. "I would guess he gets traded, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was the Giants who made that move."
