According to Team Rankings, the Colts are averaging just 5.0 penalties per game, which is tied for the lowest mark in the NFL.

Last season, the Colts ranked around the middle of the pack in terms of penalties per game, with 6.1 per contest.

Winning in the NFL is already a difficult task on a weekly basis, but being a heavily penalized team only makes that more challenging.

Penalties erase big plays and put the offense behind the sticks in disadvantageous down-and-distance situations.

Defensively, they can flip field position and extend drives for the opponent.
