Indianapolis Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones made the most of his preseason opportunities as he prepared for his fourth NFL season.
Pro Football Focus named Jones the Colts’ highest-graded player of the entire 2026 preseason.
"He excelled in coverage with a 77.8 PFF grade, permitting just one reception from six throws into his coverage on 36 coverage snaps," PFF's Gordon McGuinness wrote.
PFF required players to log at least 45 snaps to qualify for its list.
The strong August was encouraging for Jones following a 2025 season impacted by a hamstring injury, landing on injured reserve following Week 1 and missing seven games.
Jones ultimately appeared in nine games in 2025, playing only 205 defensive snaps, struggling to see steady playing time in Lou
Anarumo's defense. He entered that season having already accumulated 27 starts over his first two years after Indianapolis selected him in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft.
This year's preseason performance also helped Jones secure a spot on the Colts’ initial 53-man roster.
Indianapolis enters the regular season with Sauce Gardner, Charvarius Ward Sr., and Justin Walley leading the way at cornerback. Along with Jones, Johnathan Edwards is on the roster as well. Cam Taylor-Britt will serve a one-game suspension.
