The Indianapolis Colts' initial 53-man rosteris set, and it came with a pair of surprise additions.
Making the Colts' roster were linebacker Tahj Chambers and defensive tackle Tim Smith -- two players we did not hear a lot about this summer.
Chambers signed with the Colts after the 2026 NFL draft as a UDFA. He played 38 defensive snaps in the preseason, holding up well in the run game, but his impact during the regular season will likely come on special teams.
Smith, meanwhile, was a sixth-round pick by the Colts in 2025. He spent last season on the practice squad, where he was elevated for one game in Week 10, but did not play any snaps.
He finished the preseason with three pressures and eight run stops, according to PFF.
Along with Jerry Tillery,
who also made the team, Smith can provide another nose tackle presence on the roster behind Grover Stewart.
