The Indianapolis Colts have waived cornerback Johnathan Edwards, the team announced on Monday.
Edwards was inactive during Sunday's Week 1 game against Baltimore.
The Colts signed Edwards as a UDFA after the 2025 NFL draft. He would make the Colts' 53-man roster as a rookie and appeared in 14 games, which included five starts.

Edwards flashed his upside and potential here and there, but he was also quite inconsistent as well. During his rookie season, Edwards allowed 17 completions on 27 targets, giving up almost 15 yards per catch.
In the preseason this summer, things didn't get much better. Edwards allowed a completion rate of 60% on 10 targets, while surrendering a hefty 19.3 yards per catch, with only one
pass breakup over two games.
Helping Edwards initially stick on the roster was his ability to help on special teams. However, against the Ravens, the Colts opted to elevate Kenneth Harris from the practice squad to contribute in that phase.
Of note, Cam Taylor-Britt has served his one game suspension and can be added back to the 53-man roster.
