Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden is predicting a stunningIndianapolis Colts victory against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Appearing on the Gruden Family Football Show, Gruden argued that head coach Shane Steichen can develop a game plan to neutralize Brian Flores' relentless pressure defense.
He expects Steichen to adjust runs at the line of scrimmage and give quarterback Daniel Jones quick answers against Minnesota's blitz-heavy approach.
"This is the upset special. The Colts! It's happening this week. You watch," Gruden said.
Minnesota enters Sunday's home matchup 5-0, while Indianapolis is 2-4 and coming off a loss to the Tennessee Titans. The Colts also fired general manager Chris Ballard this week.
Gruden has a believer in his
corner as well.
ESPN analyst Seth Walder also picked Indianapolis to win, predicting a 23-20 final score.
Walder noted Minnesota's offense has averaged minus-0.09 expected points added per play with Kyler Murray at quarterback, questioning how long the defense can carry the unbeaten team.
That argument comes with the caveat of Murray and receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison having had limited time together because of injuries.
Nevertheless, Gruden is banking on Steichen's preparation to pull out a major Week 7 upset.
