ESPN's Seth Walder made his 2026 bold prediction for the Indianapolis Colts, and it centers around the team's dynamic cornerback duo.
Walder believes that either Sauce Gardner or Charvarius Ward has the potential to be a first-team All-Pro this season.
"I could see him (Gardner) having a great 2026 with a full season in Indianapolis," Walder wrote. "He is by far the most likely of the two to get first-team recognition, but I wanted to include Ward because he has always put up strong coverage numbers, too."
Injuries limited Gardner and Ward's contributions last season. However, when both were on the field, they played at a high level.
With the Colts last season, Gardner allowed a completion rate of 54%, giving up just 7.3 yards per catch, with three
pass breakups.
Ward, meanwhile, allowed a completion rate of 57% on 37 targets with seven pass breakups over seven games.
For opposing quarterbacks, it's essentially pick your poison when choosing to target either Gardner or Ward. This duo also opens up the playbook for Lou Anarumo, who can call much more aggressive games, with Gardner and Ward able to play on islands.
If healthy, the Colts should have on of the top starting cornerback units in football.
