Indianapolis Colts tight end Will Mallory will return to practice this week, head coach Shane Steichen announced on Wednesday.
Mallory has been on injured reserve with a thumb injury he sustained during training camp. The Colts now have 21 days to add Mallory back to the 53-man roster.
Colts HC Shane Steichen: Opening 21-day window for TE Will Mallory.

Mallory had put together a strong showing over the summer, regularly flashing in practice, while making three receptions for 34 yards in the preseason.
His presence will add a pass-catching threat to the tight end position to pair with Tyler Warren. Mallory's role through his first three seasons has been relatively small, but he appeared poised for more opportunities prior to his injury.
When Mallory
will be available on Sundays still remains to be seen.
