With their eye on the future, the Indianapolis Colts want defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore as part of it, signing him to a contract extension on Tuesday.
Here are three things to know about Adebawore's deal.
Adetomiwa Adebawore will be a part of the Colts' early rebuild
Understandably so, much of the conversation over the last week-plus has been about who the Colts will trade, but the team decided on Tuesday that keeping Adebawore around was a must -- and it's easy to see why.
Adebawore has put together a breakout season and is doing so at a position where it's not easy to find highly productive pass rushers. He has shown that he has that potential.
A disruptive start to the 2026 season for Adebawore
As mentioned, it's been a breakout year for Adebawore. Through eight games, he ranks tied for 25th among all defensive tackles in quarterback pressures, and
keep in mind that's without being a starter for much of the year until DeForest Buckner was traded last week.
Adebawore also ranks fifth among his position group in PFF's pass-rush win rate, showcasing his ability to beat the blocker across from him at a high rate.
Contract details for Adebawore
According to the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Adebawore's extension is worth $35 million and includes a $13 million signing bonus and $22.5 million in new money. He is now under contract through the 2028 season. Adebawore was set to be a free agent during the 2027 offseason.
