The Indianapolis Colts didn't receive much sympathy for their ugly Week 1 performance against the Baltimore Ravens.
CBS Sports' John Breech handed Indianapolis a D grade following its 41-23 loss, one of the harsher marks around the NFL after the opening weekend.
Quarterback Daniel Jones took some criticism after completing 19 of 31 passes for 166 yards and rushing only once for four yards in his return from a torn Achilles.
Breech placed the larger share of the blame elsewhere, though.
"You can't put this loss on Jones," Breech wrote.
Instead, CBS Sports pointed toward an Indianapolis defense that allowed Baltimore to pile up 506 total yards. It marked the first time in three years that the Colts surrendered more than 500 yards in a game.
Lamar Jackson
threw for 324 yards, while Derrick Henry rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns. Zay Flowers added 150 receiving yards and a score as Indianapolis struggled to find answers throughout the afternoon.
The Colts now have to regroup quickly.
Up next is a road matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving Indianapolis only a bit of time to correct the problems that contributed to its rough opening grade.
