Indianapolis Colts special teams coordinator Brian Mason doesn't expect his latest knee injury to keep him off the sideline during the regular season.
Mason said Monday that the injury suffered during the Colts’ preseason opener against the New England Patriots was the seventh major injury to his left knee, per James Boyd of The Athletic.

The latest setback adds to an extensive injury history Mason discussed.
Mason said he tore his left ACL twice in high school and twice more in college, eventually
reaching the point where he “couldn’t pass a physical anymore.” He tore the ACL again in 2012 while playing basketball at Butler and suffered another significant knee injury in 2021 while landscaping.
His seventh major injury came when players rolled into him near the sideline on the final play of Indianapolis’ preseason opener when Mason tore multiple ligaments.
Mason is in his fourth season as the Colts’ special teams coordinator after joining Shane Steichen’s staff in 2023.
The Zionsville, Indiana native previously held the same role at Notre Dame in 2022 and Cincinnati from 2018-21. His coaching career began at Denison, where a knee injury ended his playing career after two seasons at running back.
