ESPN's Jeremy Fowler listedIndianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson as one of 11 players to potentially watch during the 2027 offseason.
Nelson is currently set to enter the final year of his current deal, making him a free agent in 2027.
"Nelson will likely need to be the highest-paid interior offensive lineman," Fowler wrote, "which means topping Las Vegas Raiders center Tyler Linderbaum's three-year, $81 million deal ($27 million per year). The highest-paid guard is the Tennessee Titans' Peter Skoronski at $25 million annually."
Fowler adds that the franchise tag for Nelson would cost the Colts between $29 million and $30 million for the 2027 season.
While things certainly could have changed over the last month, Nelson said on Aug. 1 that he and
the team hadn't had any extension talks at that time.
About to enter his ninth NFL season, Nelson continues to play at an extremely high level. Among all guards this season, Nelson ranked fourth in Pro Football Focus' pass-blocking efficiency and fourth in run-blocking grade.
He is an eight-time Pro Bowler and has made six All-Pro teams in his career.
