The first of what could be several moves for theIndianapolis Colts ahead of the trade deadline has taken place.
On Tuesday, it was reported that veteran guard Quenton Nelson was being traded to the Seattle Seahawks. In return, the Colts will receive a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
This trade comes just a week after the Colts fired GM Chris Ballard. At that time, the Colts were 2-4, and reports suggested that the team wanted to see if they could still turn the season around.
However, following another disappointing loss on Sunday to the Vikings, dropping to 2-5, the Colts appear ready to look to the future.
Like Nelson, DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart are veterans on expiring deals who could help out a playoff contender.
Keenan Allen is another player who fits that mold.
Adam Schefter recently reported that the 49ers are a team to watch when it comes to Buckner.
There has also been speculation around Jonathan Taylor's future with the team. Although he just signed a two-year, $44 million contract extension prior to the season, thecontract is movable if needed.
That said, Ian Rapoport recently reported that the Colts view Taylor as "a big part of their franchise turnaround," and acquiring him would be "pricey."
Schefter mentioned the Vikings, Seahawks, and Broncos as teams to watch if Taylor were to become available.
This year's NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10.
