Ian Rapoport shed some light on what the recovery plan is for Indianapolis Colts' wide receiver Alec Pierce.
In the Colts' Week 2 matchup against Kansas City, Pierce exited the contest in the first half after aggravating the same heel injury he had surgically repaired during the offseason.
According to Rapoport, Pierce will attempt to rehab the injury rather than undergoing surgery.
However, even with that approach, the Colts' wideout is still "slated to be out several weeks," as Rapoport put it, although if all goes well, he could return midseason.

Pierce played just 17 snaps against the Chiefs, and his speed was very much missed on offense. That unit's ability to generate explosive plays without Pierce on the field becomes much more difficult, not only because of his big-play potential, but also because opponents can now defend the Colts' offense more aggressively.
Over the last two seasons, Pierce has led the NFL in yards per catch. He eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in 2025.
This offseason, Pierce signed a four-year, $114 million deal to return to the Colts in free agency.
