Following yet another disappointing loss for the Indianapolis Colts, this time in Week 2 to the Kansas City Chiefs, which players received the highest grades fromPro Football Focus, and which received the lowest?
Now, before we dive into all that, I do want to mention that while PFF's grading system is certainly helpful at quantifying a player's performance, it is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to evaluations. It is one tool out of many that are out there and should be treated as such.
For some context around these grades, below is the grading scale.
- 90.0+: Elite
- 80-89.9: High quality
- 70-79.9: Good
- 60-69.9: Above average
- 50-59.9: Average
- 40-49.9: Below average
- 39.9 or less: Poor
Colts' 5 highest-graded players on offense
- WR Josh Downs: 87.2
- LG Quenton Nelson: 81.7
- QB Daniel Jones: 73.6
- RB Jonathan Taylor: 66.8
- TE Tyler Warren: 64.8
Downs was terrific in this game and proved to be very difficult to defend, even without Alec Pierce on the field. He caught 7-of-9 passes for 72 yards. Taylor was what made the offense go,
generating over 130 yards of total production with two scores. Oftentimes leading the way on several of Taylor's chunk gains was Quenton Nelson, who earned a run-blocking grade of 78.4.
Warren was second on the team in targets and receptions, totaling 21 yards with a score, while Jones was efficient, although the offense didn't push the ball downfield all that much. He had one interception and one touchdown pass, throwing for 210 yards.

- CB Charvarius Ward: 70.2
- CB Cam Taylor-Britt: 68.4
- CB Sauce Gardner: 64.0
- DE JT Tuimoloau: 60.8
- DT DeForest Buckner: 60.4
There aren't a lot of high grades on defense for the Colts. Before exiting with a groin injury, Ward allowed one reception for six yards. Taylor-Britt allowed just one reception for 10 yards as well, while Gardner surrendered three receptions on four targets for 42 yards, and he did have a pass breakup.
Tuimoloau and Buckner combined for a modest three pressures, and neither graded out that well against the run.
Colts' 3 lowest-graded players overall
- DT Jerry Tillery: 27.3
- S AJ Haulcy: 27.8
- LB Jaylon Carlies: 29.9
Tillery played 33 snaps and did record a sack, but that was about it. He had a missed tackle as well. Speaking of missed tackles, Haulcy was credited with a whopping four in this game. Carlies also had two missed tackles and allowed six receptions for 103 yards.
