As we continue to take a look back at theIndianapolis Colts' Week 5 performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers, let's highlight some noteworthy snap count figures.
For the most part, when it comes to playing time, there aren't many huge surprises, but each week, particularly early on, there are a few things we can glean.
With help from PFF, here are a few quick notes from the Colts' snap count totals from Week 5.
More movement at linebacker
Without Jaylon Carlies, Bryce Boettcher got the start but ended up playing just 11 snaps. Instead, Austin Ajiake played the most linebacker snaps next to Akeem Davis-Gaither. Rookie CJ Allen also saw his largest workload of the season, playing 24 defensive snaps.
What about at defensive end?
Without both Micheal Clemons and Arden Key, as expected, Jaylahn Tuimoloau
got the start. However, despite this being a heavily rotated position, Caden Curry and George Gumbs both played relatively small roles, combining for 20 total snaps. Tuimolau and Laiatu Latu would play most of the game. Is that sustainable moving forward?
Laquon Treadwell was WR2
Of the 71 offensive snaps played by the Colts, Treadwell was on the field for 57 of them, trailing only Josh Downs at the wide receiver position. Keenan Allen, in his return from a groin injury, played a modest 32 snaps. Deion Burks and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine played seven snaps each. The rotation at this position is quite tight.
